INTERSEC 2014: HID Global adopts ‘solutions approach’
Pisupati: The market is changing; we are being asked to provide enterprise-style solutions.

UK-based access-management specialist HID Global, is using Intersec 2014 to let the industry know that its new focus will be on security solutions.

HID offers a number of products, from ID cards to logical access systems, but lately the company has been emphasising the importance of end-to-end tailored solutions for its customers.

"We are an access control company, but we also provide ID card systems, logical access and professional services," Nat Pisupati, regional sales director, Identity and Access Management, MEA, HID Global, told ITP.net. "We have a lot of products, but [now] we want to tie them together to form solutions.

"The market is changing; we are being asked to provide enterprise-style solutions. [Customers] don't want to deal with a lot of different companies; they want to deal with one company."

HID is also trying to raise its profile in the banking and finance sector and has a number of offerings in the two-factor authentication (2FA) space.

"We have a lot of products for banks," said Pisupati. "We can print debit cards; we can do one-time passwords; we can provide tokens; and we also provide back-end security."

Pisupati also said a lot of HID's customers are asking for biometric solutions, such as fingerprint scanners, particularly as part of a two-factor solution.

"Anything can be hacked," he said. "Nothing is foolproof. But [that means] people are asking for more levels of security, which is good for us because we can provide one, two or even three levels."

DWTC-hosted Intersec, runs from 19 until 21 January, in the Dubai International Convention Centre.
