Bill Gates to speak at Abu Dhabi event in February
Scientist behind the first lab-grown burger will also be a speaker
Microsoft chairman and founder Bill Gates will speak at an event in Abu Dhabi looking at the future of agriculture, event organisers have announced.
Gates, who currently mainly works as co-founder of the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation charity, will make a speech at the Global Forum for Innovations in Agriculture (GFIA) on 3 February.
"We are delighted to have the support of Bill Gates and his team at the Gates Foundation. The work that the Gates Foundation undertakes in support of agricultural innovation is of critical importance in reducing poverty and improving food security for millions of families across Africa and Asia," GFIA project director Mark Beaumont said.
The GFIA event will take place from 3-5 February at Abu Dhabi's National Exhibitions Company (ADNEC).
The theme of Gates' speech and the overall event is "Visions for an Agricultural Revolution".
Also confirmed to speak is Dr Mark Post, Professor of vascular physiology at Holland's Maastricht University, who rose to notoriety as the scientist behind the world's first lab-grown burger.
