The Syrian Electronic Army (SEA), a group of hackers that supports the Syrian government, has claimed credit for hacking Skype's official blog, Facebook and Twitter feeds last Wednesday.

The group claimed that the attack on Skype, which is owned by Microsoft, was in retaliation for Microsoft's alleged involvement in spying by the US National Security Agency.

"You can thank Microsoft for monitoring your accounts emails using this [sic] details. #SEA", the group tweeted on 2 January. The tweet included an attachment that contained contact details of Microsoft CEO Steve Ballmer.

In another Tweet, the SEA stated "Don't use Microsoft emails (hotmail, outlook), they are monitoring your accounts and selling the data to the governments."
