Etisalat plans 3G femtocell network
Telco aims to boost mobile broadband capacity with new femtocell deployment
UAE telco Etisalat is planning to deploy a 3G femtocell network in a bid to boost its mobile broadband capacity in busy public areas.
The operator has made a public tender announcement for the "supply, installation, testing, commissioning and integration" of a 3G femtocell network.
The closing date for tender applications is January 23.
Operators are increasingly looking to femtocells and picocells as a means of boosting mobile broadband coverage in busy public spaces such as shopping malls and train stations.
