LG unveils curved OLED TV for UAE market
South Korean vendor uses GITEX Shopper for launch of arced telly
South Korean vendor LG unveiled for the UAE market what it claims to be the "world's first curved OLED TV" at GITEX Shopper 2013.
The display is said to have caught the attention of His Highness Sheikh Majid Bin Mohammed Bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Chairman of Dubai Culture and Arts Authority, who officially opened the shopping expo this year. Sheikh Majid was treated to a dedicated product overview that highlighted the features of the TV.
The TV is distinguished by high contrast, motion clarity and a generous span of viewing angles. Spanning a total of 77 inches diagonally, the screen uses an IMAX-like curvature that fills the viewer's field of vision more completely than a flat-screen TV. The unit combines LG's WRGB OLED and ULTRA HD technologies, with the aim of producing "infinite contrast ratio and resolution four times greater than regular Full HD".
The television shared the spotlight with the LG G2 smartphone, the first mobile with rear buttons and the slimmest bezel in the market. The company also showcased its ULTRA HD TV.
"The home entertainment sector is fueled by constant change and growth with new products entering the market every day," said DY Kim, president, LG Electronics, Gulf FZE.
"LG is committed to lead that growth, offering the latest and [most] innovative entertainment products to enhance entertainment [experiences] in the UAE and abroad.
"We're in a strong market position globally, carving out a reputation of delivering technology solutions that matter to [consumers]. The user experience with both the curved OLED TV and the LG G2 is unique... in the market right now. Our main goal was, and is, to deliver products that make life better."
