WD to focus on NAS drives at GITEX
Storage vendor to showcase second-generation Red SOHO product line
Storage solutions mainstay WD will be focusing on several product lines at GITEX TECHNOLOGY WEEK, including its recently launched second-generation Red SOHO NAS drives.
The first-generation Red drives were launched in 2012 and are said to have been the first hard drives on the market that were purpose built for 1-to-5 bay network attached storage (NAS) enclosures designed for homes and small offices.
"With the recent launch of our second-generation Red drives WD became the only storage vendor in the world to offer a 2.5-inch drive designed for 1-to-5 bay SOHO NAS enclosures," said Khwaja Saifuddin, senior sales director, Middle East, Africa & South Asia, WD.
The company will also be showcasing its consumer electronic (CE) and audio video (AV) focused drives, the WD AV-GP and WD AV-25.
"GITEX TECHNOLOGY WEEK provides a strong platform for us to reach out to people in the consumer, SMB and enterprise spaces from across the Middle East and Africa regions," Saifuddin added.
"We have a wide range of class-leading products for each of these unique segments and the trade show gives us the opportunity to reach out to these audiences under one roof."
WD recently conducted a training seminar for vendors, integrators and resellers focusing on the digital surveillance segment in the region. A WD field application engineer (FAE) was flown in specifically for this training session which took place in Dubai on September 16. According to WD, this was the first time a storage vendor conducted an AV training session in the region and it was well attended and received.
WD also enhanced its focus on Africa with the appointment of Mitsumi Distribution as its first Africa-focused distribution partner. Since then WD has also invested in several training sessions within several countries in the Central, East and West African regions and has also made other investments in key countries within the region.
