Brocade appoints new VP
Bill Lipsin named vice president of worldwide channel and global systems integrator sales
Networking vendor Brocade has named Bill Lipsin as its vice president of worldwide channel and global systems integrator sales.
The company characterised the appointment as indicative of its increasing focus on channel driven-sales as opposed to business through its OEM partners, which has traditionally accounted for a majority of the firm's revenues.
Lipsin will be responsible for the overall direction and management of all sales and business development operations for Brocade's channel. He will also lead the strategic direction, and operational and sales management of the company's Global Systems Integrator (GSI) team.
As virtualisation, cloud computing, BYOD and software-defined networking emerge as major industry trends, the vendor hopes to gain ground as it considers these areas to be dependent on high-performance, high-reliability networking.
Brocade's business is driven by a diverse and complex channel that includes OEM partners, distributors, value-added resellers (VARs), global systems integrators, and a direct sales force. Lipsin will leverage over 30 years of experience in the technology industry as he attempts to shape the vendor's go-to-market strategies.
Outsource service providers, system integrators or VARs are commonly used by organisations for technology implementations, according to Jeff Lindholm, senior vice president of worldwide sales at Brocade, to whom Lipsin will be directly reporting.
