Zain KSA has hired Huawei to manage and operate its network operations centre (NOC) for three years, in a bid to further improve customer experience.

As part of the agreement, Huawei took responsibility for the management and operation of the Zain NOC, converging all existing services and technologies and monitoring network traffic since 1 May. This includes 24-7 monitoring of the performance of all services to enhance subscriber quality.

The NOC is responsible for monitoring all network traffic and ensuring that the network stays free from problems that could affect customers.

Saud AlBawardi, chief operating officer, Zain KSA, said: "The decision to move Zain KSA away from traditional network monitoring methodologies to a new and enhanced [system] was based on our desire to provide our subscribers with the best possible experience."

James Wu, CEO of Huawei in KSA, said: "We are now focusing on ensuring network operations are customer experience-oriented in order to support increasing Zain's revenues, reduce operating expenditure and increase customer loyalty."

In June, Zain KSA signed a three-year managed services agreement with Ericsson, which will be responsible for the operations and maintenance of all the telco's radio network sites throughout the country.
