Deadline for Etisalat SIM registration looms
Those who have received an SMS notification to register their SIM but fail to do so by July 16 will be cut off.

UAE telco Etisalat has warned that any of its mobile customers who have received an SMS notification to register their SIM card but fail to do so by July 16 will be cut off.

Ayman Eldessouky, chief sales officer, Etisalat, confirmed that Etisalat's SIM card registration programme, under the "My Number, My Identity" campaign, ends on July 16.

Eldessouky said: "Etisalat has conducted a lot of initiatives to ease the process by adding more partners to be able to register from various locations in the country. As we complete the fourth phase of the registration process, customers are beginning to realise the increasing relevance of protecting their information. Early registrations would benefit customers to avoid disconnections and continue enjoying Etisalat services."

Etisalat and Du started the SIM re-registration process in mid-2012.
