Westcon appoints new security chief
Green: Now more than ever, security is being recognised as an essential element in the adoption of new technologies.

UCC and security VAD Westcon Group today announced it has appointed Christopher Green as Divisional Head of its Security Business Unit.

Green will manage the sales and pre-sales teams for Westcon's portfolio of Juniper, Blue Coat, Dell SonicWall and Kaspersky solutions, in a bid to grow Westcon's share of the regional IT security market.

Westcon cited a report from research firm Frost & Sullivan, which predicts that the Middle East network security market will grow by over 18% between 2012 and 2018.

"It is a very exciting time to be at the helm of the security division of one of the region's leading IT value added distributors," said Green.

"Now more than ever, security is being recognised as an essential element in the adoption of new technologies and ways of conducting business. Westcon delivers the highest degree of professionalism and expertise to help organisations realise their technology ambitions and I am very proud to be a part of this."

Prior to joining Westcon, Green spent nine years serving in various senior sales roles at Avnet, which included sales manager, Gulf and Levant at HP Enterprise Server, Storage and Networking and Middle East sales manager at Computer Components and Integrated Solutions (CCIS).

"[Green's] regional experience of over seven years has given him keen insights into channel-related operations and the planning and execution of go-to-market strategies tailored for success in the highly competitive regional channel market," Westcon said in an emailed statement.
