Samsung S4 Zoom images released
Camera comes with smartphone rather than t’other way round
Samsung Electronics today unveiled its latest Galaxy S4 handset, the Zoom, an S4 with a large 16MP camera module bolt-on that is anything but unobtrusive.
The Samsung Galaxy S4 Zoom is indeed, all about the camera, featuring a 16-megapixel sensor and a 10x optical zoom, rather than the digital zoom that is standard for smartphones. The bulk is obvious, even from the images posted by tech sites, which are reporting the dimensions as 125.5 x 63.5 x 15.4mm and the weight as 208g.
But while the camera is hard to ignore, the S4 Zoom comes with a smartphone. It features a 4.3-inch qHD sAMOLED display and is powered by a 1.5GHz dual-core processor, which is not quite as powerful as the S4 Mini's Snapdragon 400 1.7 GHz component.
The handset also comes with a 1.9MP front-facing camera, and runs on Android 4.2 Jelly Bean. It offers 8GB of internal storage 5GB of which is available for use, but a microSD slot is included to allow expansion up to 64GB.
The handset carries a 2330mAh battery and supports 4G, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth 4.0, GPS and NFC.
TechRadar reported a UK release is scheduled for the summer but no information is available on other markets.
