Samsung reveals first official S4 mini images
Galaxy flagship’s junior edition unwrapped prior to 20 June launch
Samsung Electronics has released images and specifications of the Galaxy S4 mini, the 4.3-inch version of the South Korean company's flagship S4 handset.
The S4 mini carries a Snapdragon 400 1.7 GHz dual-core processor and runs Android Jelly Bean. The 4.3-inch HD Super AMOLED display will showcase Samsung's own customised Touch Wiz Nature UX interface.
Also included are an 8MP main camera and a front-facing 1.9MP camera. The Sound&Shot feature captures audio as pictures are taken, and Panorama Shot allows users to photograph a wide-angle view of landscapes. Other tools will geo-tag and timestamp images and arrange them into so-called Story Albums.
Other apps include a preloaded trip advisor called S Travel, which acts as an information repository and heuristic guide. Also with travel in mind, S Translator provides instant text or voice translation for emails, text messages, or ChatON.
Users can share music and games across live connections using Group Play. It will also be possible to insert rich content such as video and audio, into ChatON messages.
The S4 mini also provides access to a variety of TV content and acts as a universal remote control.
The device comes with 1.5GB of RAM and 8GB of internal memory and is available in the same two colours the S4 was launched in: White Frost and Black Mist. Both LTE and Wi-Fi versions will be available.
The handset will be officially unveiled at a press event in London on 20 June.
