Vodafone Qatar has appointed Kyle Whitehill as its new CEO, effective June 2013. Whitehill will replace existing CEO, Richard Daly, who will return to the UK for family reasons, the company said in a statement.

Whitehill will join Vodafone Qatar from Vodafone Ghana where he has been CEO since 2010. Vodafone Ghana has seen a significant increase in revenue market share and profitability under Whitehill's leadership, according to Vodafone Qatar.

Whitehill has worked for Vodafone Group since 2001 and has previously held a variety of senior roles including enterprise business unit director in the UK and chief operating officer in India.

H.E Sheikh Abdulrahman Bin Saud Al-Thani, chairman of Vodafone Qatar, said: "I and the entire board of Vodafone Qatar are delighted to welcome Kyle and his family to Qatar. I am sure that Kyle's deep experience in enterprise and fixed line Services will ensure the continued success of Vodafone in Qatar.

"We are sorry to see Richard leave and thank him for his efforts but fully understand his desire to spend more time with his family. The handover between Richard and Kyle will happen throughout the summer enabling a very smooth and seamless transition."

Daly was appointed CEO of Vodafone Qatar in October 2011 shortly after the untimely death of then CEO, Grahame Maher, who launched the operation.
