Wataniya Kuwait plans major investment
MWC 2013 EXCLUSIVE: Wataniya plans network modernisation, management changes
EXCLUSIVE: Kuwaiti mobile operator, Wataniya, is planning a major network modernisation that will help it to improve customer experience from "end-to-end", the company's CEO, Bassam Hannoun told CommsMEA at Mobile World Congress.
"We are going to focus on customer experience, but this time end-to-end starting from communication all the way down to customer services, and we are taking some serious steps into modernising our network. It is a big investment," Hannoun said.
"We are taking that step very seriously, modernising our network, bringing it to the level that we believe is appropriate for the upcoming era of telecom."
Hannoun, who was appointed CEO in mid-2012, added that while the Kuwaiti market remains highly competitive, it also holds significant potential.
"We are still seeing some growth, around 2.5%, year on year. It is one of the highest ARPU markets in the region and we want to put ourselves correctly in the landscape from a customer experience point of view."
Wataniya Kuwait is also planning some management changes, and is in the process of replacing its chief strategy officer and chief marketing officer, Hannoun said.
"We are taking some serious steps internally as well, to match our internal capabilities with our internal strategy, so there are some changes we have made on the top management level," he said. "We are changing some key positions such as the CMO and CSO. We are appointing new management into the company, enriching the top management, as well looking at optimisation.
"It is a really tough market and our objective is to really focus on customer experience in a completely different way than before. The industry is changing and we are going to change with it," Hannoun added. "That really is the key focus."
