Canon ME unveils three new PIXMA printers
New range said to produce photo-lab quality prints at home
Canon Middle East on Thursday announced the launch of three new premium PIXMA printers that are said to produce photo-lab quality prints at home and boast advanced design features: the PIXMA iP7240, PIXMA MG5440 and PIXMA MG6340.
Joining Canon’s All-in-One Photo printer range are the MG5440 and MG6340, two high-performance PIXMA devices designed for fast print speeds, the option of cost-saving high capacity XL inks, and enhanced connectivity for printing around the home. Also launched was the new PIXMA iP7240, a document and photo printer replacing the iP4950, with faster print speeds and Wi-Fi connectivity. The iP7240 also supports tablet and smartphone printing.
All three new PIXMA printers have been designed with the living environment in mind. Low-profile in design and featuring two front-loading paper trays, the new printers can easily be stored and used in tight spaces, such as on shelves in rooms where space is at a premium. The two trays are also designed to make it easier to switch between printing documents and photos, by enabling two different paper sizes to be loaded simultaneously.
The ‘Snap Edge’ design on the MG5440 and MG6340 is intended to sharpen the look of the printer and allows easy access for replacing ink tanks. All three printers can be used with Canon’s high-capacity XL ink tanks, which the company said provide up to twice the number of prints per tank as standard-size ink tanks.
The latest PIXMA printers have been designed to be even easier to use. The MG6340, for example, features a large 8.8cm colour touch-screen display that combines with Canon’s Intelligent Touch System, which is integrated into the surface of the printer.
The new printers also feature Auto Power Off, an energy-saving function that allows the PIXMAs to automatically switch off if left idle for a set amount of time. Auto Power On turns the printer on automatically when a print job is sent to it.
“Easy connectivity through Wi-Fi is a key feature of the new PIXMA printers and ensures they can be shared wirelessly by multiple PCs, tablets and smartphones in the home,” said Canon.
The MG5440 and MG6340 also both support PIXMA Cloud Link which includes Google Cloud Print, enabling Google Docs or Gmail attachments (jpeg or PDF files) to be printed on the go from any smartphone, tablet or laptop. PIXMA Cloud Link also enables direct access to online photo albums and useful print templates, such as calendars, over the Internet.
Printing direct from compatible digital cameras and digital video cameras is also possible with the new Canon PIXMA printers. Based on the PictBridge standard, cameras can be connected to the same Wi-Fi router as the printer, which enables direct photo printing without the need for a cable connection.
All three printers come with Canon’s latest My Image Garden software as standard, which includes access to the new-look Creative Park Premium. Photos can also be printed using Canon’s new Print Your Days Facebook app, which has been designed to make it easier to enhance and print photos directly from Facebook to a Canon PIXMA printer, without the need for any additional software.
The high performance PIXMA iP7240 is Canon’s first single-function printer to feature Wi-Fi connectivity. The iP7240 has a five-ink system and produces fast A4 ISO ESAT print speeds of 15ipm for mono and 10ipm for colour. Additional key features include direct printing from tablet and smartphone devices, double front paper cassettes, Direct Disc Print, Auto Power On/Off and Auto Duplex Print, which by printing double-sided, can reduce paper consumption by up to 50%.
The new PIXMA MG5440 is an advanced All-In-One photo printer, which features a 7.5cm TFT display and 5-ink system. The MG5440 also offers Wi-Fi connectivity, PIXMA Cloud Link with Google Cloud Print and tablet and smartphone printing. Extra features of the MG5440 include a smart, low profile design, double front paper cassettes and Auto Duplex Print. The MG5440 prints quality documents with A4 ISO ESAT speeds of 15ipm for mono and 10ipm for colour. The option of using XL single ink tanks is also available.
The PIXMA MG6340 is a premium All-In-One Photo printer geared towards photo enthusiasts. The printer features a six-ink system, including a grey ink intended for quality greyscale results. It also features Canon’s Intelligent Touch System with an 8.8cm TFT touch-screen display. The MG6340 comes with Wi-Fi and includes a range of connectivity options for PC-free printing. Extra features of the MG6340 include Auto Duplex Print, Ethernet connectivity, Direct Disc printing and the option of utilising Canon’s new XL single ink tanks. The printer is designed to produce high quality documents and images with ISO ESAT speeds of 15ipm for mono and 10ipm for colour. The new MG6340 will also be available in a white finish.
The PIXMA iP7240, PIXMA MG5440 and PIXMA MG6340 are available across MENA region from November 2012.
