The ease of doing business
The Dubai Chamber of Commerce and Industry is displaying a variety of its services
The Dubai Chamber of Commerce and Industry is displaying a variety of its services at GITEX TECHNOLOGY WEEK 2012, including membership & documentation, information center and contracts drafting.
The Chamber is highlighting the ATA Carnet program, which is an international customs document that permits duty-free and tax-free temporary importation of goods for up to one year. ATA Carnet covers commercial samples, professional equipment and goods for trade fairs. The Chamber is also displaying the CSR Label that has been developed to bring together international best practices in CSR and local context of Dubai together. The label is supposed to help by providing a clear voluntary standard for CSR implementation, and has the ability to communicate better with stakeholders.
An interesting and important service that the Chamber provides, and is highlighting at GITEX, is its credit rating service. These services are important to maintain transparency in business and decrease commercial risk to companies. The Rating Credit Opinion is designed to assess the ability of a company to fulfill its financial commitments, while the Rating Customized Credit Opinion is used for high credit limit applications. Further, the Dubai Chamber along with the National Bank of Abu Dhabi has allocated $100 million to finance the SME members of the Chamber.
Other initiatives include an employee volunteering program called ‘ENGAGE Dubai’; the Mohammed Bin Rashid Al Maktoum Business Award program; as well as the University of Dubai’s initiative to raise HR development programs.
