Gemalto signs with Western Union Money Transfer
Gemalto LinqUs mobile payment platform users will be able to access Western Union network
Gemalto's mobile payment solution has been accepted as part of Western Union's vendor program.
The deal will mean that users of Gemalto's LinqUs Mobile Payment Platform will now be able to send and receive money through Western Union's Money Transfer service, which is available through a network of over 510,000 agents in 200 countries.
"With a large expat community and high volumes of international mobile money transfers in the Middle East, this announcement will bring added value to the offering of Middle Eastern mobile operators choosing the Gemalto mobile money solution. The software solution we provide now includes Western Union Money Transfer services but also MoneyGram services, as announced last week." comments Dubai based Christelle Toureille - CISMEA marketing director, Telecommunication division at Gemalto.
The addition of the service is intended to help operators and financial institutions worldwide to meet the growing demand for mobile international money transfers, which are expected to hit a volume of 304 million per year by 2016.
