New Android handset puts social users front and centre

HTC Desire X throws down social gauntlet
The HTC Desire X is designed to be the social animal's handset of choice.

HTC pulled the curtain back on the forthcoming Desire X today, touting it as "an affordable smartphone that delivers a state-of-the-art camera, stunning sound and incredible processing power and speed".

Driven by Android 4.0, the handset houses a dual-core 1GHz Qualcomm Snapdragon S4 processor and showcases HTC's own Beats Audio and HTC Sense technologies. The on-board camera includes VideoPic, a system that allows simultaneous still capture while taking video footage.

Marketed firmly towards the consumer market, the Desire X also allows the one-touch sharing of media through email, text or social media.

"HTC Desire X is an extension of your social life," said Jason Mackenzie, President, Global Sales and Marketing for HTC Corporation. "If you're looking to enjoy and share high quality multimedia, wherever you are, this is the phone for you. It not only looks and sounds great, but also provides a super-fast, highly personal mobile experience at a great price."

HTC Desire X is expected to be available in the Middle East by the end of September 2012.
