Nokia is out with a new smartphone, from its Asha Touch range, the Asha 311. The phone takes advantage of Nokia Browser 2.0 and uses Nokia cloud technology which the manufacturer says reduces data consumption by 90%.

The Nokia Asha 311 is priced at AED 439 ($119) and boasts a scratch resistant capacitive touch screen powered by a 1GHz processor. The device also has a 3.2MP camera and pre-installed Nokia Maps in addition to a 15-level pre-bundled version of Angry Birds.

"The launch of the Nokia Asha 311 is testament to our accelerated commitment to connecting the next billion consumers to the internet. Designed to provide an incredibly rich smartphone-like experience, the Nokia Asha 311 enables consumers to be connected on-the go and also be set free from excessive data consumption costs," said Vithesh Reddy, GM, Nokia Lower Gulf.

Websites are said to load three times faster than devices without cloud-accelerated browsing, making it easy and quick for users to choose from over 10,000 web apps for download. A pre-installed social media client allows for easy access of Facebook, Twitter and other social networks. All popular messaging services are also installed on the device.

New owners of the Nokia Asha 311 will also have exclusive access to 40 EA games that can be downloaded for free and stored on the phone. Users can download these games within the first 60 days of accessing the EA Games gift icon. These games include titles such as Tetris, Bejeweled, Need for Speed: The Run and FIFA 12.
