Etisalat has beefed up its senior management team for Asia with three new appointments.

Etisalat Group has hired three senior executives to help drive its expansion in Asia.

The UAE-based telco appointed Ahmed AlHashemi as senior VP, commercial, Asia; Faiez Awadh as senior VP, HR business optimization, Asia; and Jean Charles Fourier as director of strategic project management, Asia.

All of the new appointments were effective from June 1.

Jamal Aljarwan, Etisalat's chief regional officer for Asia, said that the new appointments coincided with "tremendous development" at the Asian operations. "[The appointments] will act as further stimulus to achieve our growth strategy within the continent, supported by a strong workforce across our partners and suppliers," he said.

Etisalat has operations in Afghanistan, Pakistan and Sri Lanka. It also has a stake in Indonesian operator, Excelcomindo. The telco recently pulled out of India, where it became embroiled in the country's infamous 2G spectrum scandal.
