Brocade and EMC partner in VSPEX scheme
Channel to play key role in promoting the latest technology offering
Further to the recent unveiling of the EMC VSPEX cloud initiative, the storage infrastructure solutions vendor has selected Brocade as the 'networking provider' as part of an industry-leading ecosystem.
Under the initiative, Brocade's ICX, VDX and 6510 fibre channel switches will be integrated with EMC's VSPEX solutions and made available via the authorised Brocade Alliance Partner Network (APN) and EMC's Velocity partners.
The two vendors say the channel will be at the forefront of selling and implementing the above technologies given their close proximity to the end-user and role as consultants. Partners who have developed their skills and capabilities and specialised in cloud and virtualisation technologies will be best suited to capitalise on the latest EMC-Brocade initiative, say the vendors.
"With its deep technology expertise and strong consultative nature, the channel is the logical point of integration for data center architecture design and private cloud deployments," said Barbara Spicek, vice president of Global Channels at Brocade. "EMC's move towards offering modular, pre-validated virtualisation solutions fully aligns with Brocade's strategy and philosophy to enable its partners to create open, multi-vendor solutions that help customers make a smooth transition toward the cloud."
According to EMC, the VSPEX is aimed at SMBs and smaller sized enterprise customers who lack in-house technical expertise and resources for making a smooth transition to the cloud and virtualisation. The vendor says the 'open' nature and philosophy of VSPEX offers customers the flexibility and choice of a multi-vendor environment with best-of-breed technologies seamlessly integrated together. This also creates efficiencies and investment protection.
"Brocade's decade-plus partnership with EMC has generated a solid relationship built upon the successes of mutual partners and customers, as well as the common belief that certain technology solutions should be offered on an open-standards basis," said Gregg Ambulos, senior vice president, Global Channel Sales at EMC Corporation.
"Through the years, we've worked together to integrate best of breed products from across Brocade's vast networking portfolio with outstanding results, so we're very excited about the inclusion of Brocade technologies within VSPEX Proven Infrastructure to deliver flexibility and choice to customers,"Ambulos said.
