CA MENA roadshow to explain benefits of content aware security solutions

Content aware solutions govern not just who can access data, but what they can do with that data as well.

CA MENA, Tech Mahindra and Mahindra Satyam, have recently concluded a regional roadshow, to promote a new approach to identity and access management, called Content Aware security.

Content aware security solutions aim to give organisations with granular control of data, and how it is used. Unlike traditional IAM solutions, which just set access control, content-aware solutions govern how data is used by individual users, help prevent misuse of data, including improper disclosure or theft from the organization.

Shirief Nosseir, product marketing director, CA Technologies EMEA explained: "Traditional identity and access security solutions control user identities and user access to systems and applications. Companies now need to take security a step further to help control how a user actually handles the information that they are allowed to access. For instance, you may allow an employee to view certain data, but not email it to someone at another company. Content-Aware solutions help organizations protect their critical information from inappropriate use or disclosure."

The roadshow visited Oman, Kuwait and Qatar, with sessions on the business value of content aware security, and also on the new layers which security models should include in order to keep up with emerging threats and evolving trends.

"CA Technologies security solutions provide the control companies need to protect their valuable assets, in a responsive and efficient manner.  The result is the right user gaining the right access to the right content, enabling businesses to be more productive while also being more secure. This balanced approach supports the business while also supporting the demand for security," said Franz Erasmus Practice Manager-Information Security, CA MENA.

Lucius Lobo, vice-president Security Services, Tech Mahindra, added: " Cyber attacks have risen to among the top 5 global risks in the World Economic Forum Global Risk Report 2012, which clearly demonstrate the need to invest in a defence-in-depth security strategy built by quality products and experienced security system integrators. Identity and Access Management is a crucial requirement to prevent unauthorized access and to impose a check on what authorized users do on critical company systems. These programs require careful integration to derive the maximum benefit. TechMahindra has a vast depth of experience in complex integrations of CA Identity and Access Management Suite."
