Oman's second operator, Nawras, has publicly tested LTE in the country.

Wolfgang Wemhoff, CTO, Nawras, said that the telco started LTE trials at Oman's Muscat Grand Mall and had invited people to test the network by playing online games on a large screen.

Nawras, which is part of Qatar's Qtel Group, has also equipped the Muscat Grand Mall, which is part of the new Tilal Complex in Muscat, with a full fibre network serving the commercial outlets and offices at the mall.

Omantel, Oman's incumbent operator, said that it had tested TDD-LTE technology in mid-2010, although the company has not yet announced plans to deploy an LTE network.
