Nokia, a global provider of mobile communication devices, has appointed Vithesh Reddy as its new general manager for the lower Gulf region.

Reddy, who brings to the new role more than seven years experience with the Nokia brand, will be responsible for developing the vendor's business in the UAE, Kuwait, Qatar, Oman and Bahrain. In addition, Reddy will utilise his vast experience and regional knowledge in this sector to lead Nokia's growth strategy throughout the lower Gulf region.

These are very exciting times for Nokia in the region and indeed the mobile communications sector as a whole," said Reddy.

"As a brand, Nokia has entered a new chapter in its evolution, one that is defined by an ongoing commitment to innovation. As such it's an exciting time to be appointed general manager and to be part of driving the brand on to even bigger and better achievements across the lower Gulf," he added.

Prior to his appointment, Reddy was head of Sales for Nokia in the same region, a role in which he excelled in driving sales across this belt. Reddy has also held various sales management roles in Nigeria and South Africa.

Reddy began his career in sales and channel management for MTN, South Africa and later in Nigeria. He has more than 10 years experience in the consumer and business technology sector.
