PC vendors says Q4 results indicate turnaround in fortunes

Acer sees Q4 profits up, but loss in FY2011
Acer said its Q4 results show that the company is returning to profitability.

Acer has announced its Q4 and full year preliminary financial results, showing a turnaround from loss to profit in the fourth quarter, but a poor year overall.

The PC vendor posted consolidated revenue for Q4 2011 of NT$127.7bn ($4.2bn), up 8.3% quarter-on-quarter, with operating income of NT$0.1bn ($2.4m) and profit after tax of NT$0.1bn ($2.5m).

For the financial year overall, Acer saw a drop in revenue of 24.4% year on year, to NT$475.5bn ($15.7bn), recording an annual operating loss of NT$6.4bn ($212m). The company attributed the loss to a write-off in the EMEA region in Q2, due to an overstocking problem.

A statement from the company said that the Q4 results indicated that the "current financial and business operation is becoming more healthy and stable".
