Jacky's Electronics is predicting a double-digit rise in sales due to the Dubai Shopping Festival (DSF) which started last week.

The electronics retailer said that the month-long festival is expected to bring in a large number of customers from Saudi Arabia and Africa. Figures from a YouGov study suggest that the annual shopping festival contributes AED15.1bn ($4.1bn) to Dubai's economy, with AED5.9bn ($1.6bn) coming from overseas visitors.

Ashish Panjabi, chief operating officer of Jacky's Electronics commented: "We anticipate this period to be very busy in terms of footfall and sales. Last year, tourists helped contribute to our overall growth and we hope to even surpass it this year."

Jacky's expects to see strong sales in consumer electronics items such as internet TVs, laptops, DSLR cameras, smartphones and tablets at this year's DSF. The company also expects to see a spike in sales of household appliances as a number of real estate projects reach completion, and home owners look to furnish their residences.

As part of its DSF promotions, Jacky's is offering gifts for purchasing customers including perfumes, fragrance gift sets, pilot cases and writing instruments from top brands. The company is also offering extended warranties and credit offerings for buyers.

"DSF 2012 should be an exciting period for sales. We have already seen several shoppers holding back major purchases that aren't related to the festive period in anticipation of DSF," Panjabi said.

"Jacky's have been very committed in coming up with innovative promotions that will eventually reward our customers. This year's theme ‘My Kind of Destination', we would like to make their shopping experience satisfying and make Jacky's as their kind of destination for buying electronic products," Panjabi explained.

"In the previous years, we have given away appliances and several electronic accessories. This year, we would like our customers to receive exciting products from well-known brands that are of value and will be greatly appreciated by anyone. We would like them to see Jacky's as a shopping destination were they can get not only their latest gadgets but also items that they desire like perfumes from luxury brands," he added.
