Friendi Group plans expansion in 2012
Company plans to move into new markets in Middle East, Africa and Asia
Friendi Group, which runs MVNOs in Oman and Jordan, expects to expand operations to new markets in the Middle East, Africa and Asia next year, the company's CEO, Mikkel Vinter, told CommsMEA.
Vinter said that the company, which also has a branded reseller agreement in KSA, had an "interesting pipeline of deals" in progress. "We have projects we are working on. It certainly looks like several of those projects will come to a launch stage in 2012 and hopefully even relatively early in the year," he said. "We definitely have ambitions and plans to expand and I think it looks like it is going to be quite an exciting year."
Vinter added that the expansion plans included MVNO and branded reseller agreements to be rolled out under the company's flagship "Friendi Mobile" brand, and other brands for certain markets. "There are some other options with other brands which we are also exploring for other segments," he said.
Friendi Mobile, which was the first MVNO to launch in Oman, has some 300,000 subscribers and a 7% market share.
Friendi Group expects total subscribers across its operations to pass 1 million in the first half of 2012, according to Vinter.
