UAE IT workers amongst world’s best paid
Report finds Gulf states’ professionals have 17th highest salary in sector globally; Separate report finds average CIO salary in the Emirates is AED50,000 a month
Workers in the United Arab Emirates’ information technology sector are amongst the best paid in the world, a new study has revealed.
According to the report released by recruitment tendering platform myhiringclub.com, IT professionals working in the Gulf state rank 17th in the world based on an average annual salary of AED300,000 ($81,500) a year, or AED25,000 ($6,790) a month.
IT workers in Switzerland topped the survey, with an average salary of $167,890, while Belgium came second with an average salary of $142,570. The United Kingdom and USA were ranked fourth and fifth with average salaries of $126,570 and $121,460 respectively.
The report however appears to neglect local taxation. Comparing just the UAE, UK and US, based on their respective tax systems, the average UAE salary remains at $81,500, while the UK salary slips to $83,725, while the average US salary falls to $95,459.
The report follows figures from Abu Dhabi and Dubai-based recruitment firm Charterhouse Partnership, which revealed that CIO-level salaries average 50,000AED ($13,615) a month in the United Arab Emirates. Solutions architects, program managers, and enterprise architects average AED45,000 ($12,250) a a month, according to the same report.
According to the report from myhiringclub.com, IT workers in Kuwait ranked 19th, Qatar 20th, and Saudi Arabia 21st.
