EMAL extends SAP for Phase Two expansion
Emirates Aluminium Company supports phase 2 expansion with extended SAP uptake
Emirates Aluminium Company (EMAL) is set to support its $4.5 billion Phase Two expansion with enhanced support and applications from SAP.
The company, one of the largest and most productive single-site aluminium smelters in the world, announced in July that it is to expand production and improve efficiency, and SAP solutions will support this process, along with the addition of 1,000 employees to its existing 2,000 personnel.
EMAL is already an intensive user of SAP solutions, but in the second phase, it will look to improve visibility into business processes, enhance decision making, and introduce mobile enterprise solutions.
SAP recently awarded EMAL a Customer Centre of Expertise (CCOE) Certification Award. The CCOE acts a central hub to encourage collaboration between EMAL business departments and its IT department, and with SAP, to improve innovation and uptake of new solutions and promote understanding of business needs so that EMAL can get the most from its SAP solutions.
"EMAL's achievements over the past four years have been remarkable. EMAL as a global player in the aluminium market is now a reality, but we will not rest on our laurels. At EMAL we invest today to reap the benefits tomorrow and continually look for improvement. To serve our customers we need to look to the future and ensure we meet their needs. That is what drives us as a business," said Saeed Fadhel Al Mazrooei, EMAL president and CEO.
Sam Alkharrat, SAP MENA MD, added: "EMAL is an inspirational company with a vital role to play not only in the future development of the UAE, but also across a host of industries on the global stage. SAP is proud to play a part in a visionary commitment to greater transparency, efficiency, productivity and business integration that is truly world-class."
EMAL was also recently awarded first prize in the Medium-Large Implementation category of the SAP MENA Quality Awards, which recognize customers that use SAP Quality Principles to effectively manage software implementations.
