Shyam Networks Ltd, an Indian manufacturer of networking, telecoms and security equipment, is in the “execution stage” of establishing a base in the UAE, according to the company’s CEO, Ravi Ailawadhi.

In the MEA region, the company already has offices in South Africa, Morocco and Algeria. Ailawadhi views the UAE as a key strategic location in the region, and says that the new office, which is expected to open in 2012, could become the HQ for Shyam’s MEA operations.

“By the next financial year (April 2012) we should be up,” Ailawadhi says. “Once you enter into a country or region, you should make sure you are there for the long term.”

Depending on the level of growth Shyam experiences in the region, it may also add a local manufacturing capability at a later stage. “Let’s see how business grows. If it lets us sustain local manufacturing, I will be the first person to go for it,” he says.

At GITEX TECHNOLOGY WEEK, Shyam is focusing mainly on its point to point, point to multi-point, WiFi offload, access points, and security and surveillance technology. “Our focus is on the data products and also on the security and surveillance products. GITEX is more toward the data side, so we have on display here our point-to-point and point-to-multipoint radios. We also have a complete range of security and surveillance products,” Ailawadhi adds.

The company is keen to raise awareness of its security systems for buses, including camera systems that allow all of the data recorded to be offloaded via IP networks such as 3G.
