Close to 90% of regional IT decision makers working in utilities, financial services and the public sector intend to use cloud computing to reinvent how they interact with customer, citizens and employees in terms of how they access information.

That is according to new research unveiled by Hewlett-Packard at GITEX TECHNOLOGY WEEK, which also shows that IT professionals increasingly view IT as a profit centre following a cloud implementation.

When respondents were asked how much they expected to save by way of costs from moving to the cloud, more than half claimed they expected to save between 21% and 40% of their IT OPEX budget.

HP says that GITEX is a milestone event in terms of cloud computing. “GITEX TECHNOLOGY WEEK is a valuable event that brings all the major cloud computing players together, where companies can connect with people working in the technology industry from across the Middle East,” says Steve Dietch, VP, cloud solutions and infrastructure.

“HP is delighted to participate in this conference and share our experiences in helping customers get tangible results from cloud, indicating speeding innovation and time to revenue.”

A significant part of HP’s presence at this year’s GITEX is its focus on creating the Instant-On Enterprise, where IT capabilities can be provisioned quickly and easily. Throughout the week, HP has been hosting workshops on cloud computing, as well as participating in the Cloud Confex event.
