KeySecure is hoping GITEX TECHNOLOGY WEEK is the perfect platform to make a splash in the Middle East security market.

The Italian start up is showing off its flagship device at this year’s show. However, the company is taking a different tack to some of its rivals by espousing its product as an evolution in security, rather than a revolution.

“Nothing we have put in the device is new to market,” says Bruno Spiga, chief executive of KeySecure. “What makes our product unique in the market is that we’re the only one who has combined all of the best of breed technologies on the market today into a single device, and most importantly, made it easy to use.”

This latter point has been the main focus for the company, Spiga reveals. “More and more people are needing to use secure devices today, especially with the rise in the use of mobility. However, many of the people who are using these devices are not necessarily tech-savvy. This means that there is a risk that if things aren’t as simple as possible, they will try and go around any solution you implement will immediately become pointless.”

According to Spiga, KeySecure is a combined hardware and software solution that processes everything on the device, where it encrypts all data produced. The only hardware used on the laptop is the RAM, screen and GPU.

The device also comes with a heavily customised version of Ubuntu Linux. “We know people aren’t necessarily familiar with Linux, so we have spent a lot of time and effort customising the interface to make it as easy to use.” The company also promotes the device as easy to manage. “Installing devices and software is so simple,” says Spiga.
