Yahoo! Middle East will be taking a prominent role this year within the new GITEX Digital Marketing section of GITEX TECHNOLOGY WEEK. The company’s Yahoo! Maktoob portal was created in 2009 when Yahoo acquired Jordan-based Maktoob. It provides a broad range of content, in both Arabic and English, and now reaches 58 million users across the region.
“For advertisers and digital marketers, we will be showcasing the latest and most advanced advertising products that bring the best in digital technology, creativity and measurement to advertisers in the Middle East,” says Ahmed Nassef, Vice President and Managing Director, Yahoo! Middle East. “When it comes to consumers, they’ll be able to enjoy previewing our latest communication services as well as a host of new and cool products that we will be rolling out in the coming months.”
In addition to the main portal, the company has developed OMG!, a celebrity news web site in Arabic, and the Helwa women’s portal. Another recent success is its Video Service, which offers several hundred hours per month of free film, TV and music video content from major Arabic media companies.
“For advertisers, only Yahoo! Maktoob delivers the unique combination of Science + Art + Scale (SAS) to help businesses reach the consumers who matter most to them,” says Nassef. “Through a host of targeted, engaging, and highly personalised advertising offerings, Yahoo! Maktoob develops lasting relationships between brands and their consumers through relevant and interactive content.”
