Omnix sets eyes on KSA in GCC growth drive
Distributor to focus on partner training to aid channel growth in the Gulf region
Looking to raise its distribution credentials in the Middle East market, Omnix International, the authorised distributor of Autodesk solutions in the region, has said it's eyeing the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia for its growth and expansion strategy in the GCC.
The group, which also has a system integration subsidiary focusing in the enterprise space, states that the plan to zero in on the KSA market is in line with its desire to develop the distribution business in the GCC.
The company says it's cementing its distribution business within the GCC by broadening its portfolio and value offerings to channel partners. The company has also stated that it would like to capitalise on infrastructure projects being readied in the KSA and Qatar. To this end, Omnix says it will be conducting partner training and embarking on a selective partner recruitment drive to increase its channel footprint in the Gulf.
Nada Abuissa, head, Strategic Planning and Control, Omnix International, said Omnix is focusing on the UAE, Qatar and Saudi Arabia IT market. Abuissa said the company has also been cultivating opportunities in Kuwait, Bahrain and Oman.
"Saudi Arabia is a big market with huge potential, which is ably demonstrated in the vibrancy of its IT industry, real estate segment and the influx of public sector led infrastructure projects. Major projects like railway development, road improvements, airport projects, have encouraged us to render focus to this country and how our expertise can be brought to yield the desired results," Abuissa said.
"Our secondary focus is Qatar, as that country is going to host the FIFA 2022 World Cup, so we are expecting a lot of new projects that will fuel the growth and usage of the IT solutions we represent," she said.
She added that the UAE has always been a focal point for Omnix because of the market dynamism in the Emirates, with Abu Dhabi still showing a lot of spark while Dubai is way on the recovery path.
Abuissa said along with the company's growth plans for the Gulf, Omnix is also preparing to roll out partner certification programmes. Abuissa said channel partners will be trained in technical and sales field, and will have to pass certain exams before they can be allowed to resell products. "These exams are conducted online along with the help of vendors we are handling. Autodesk and HP offer certification training which is a requirement before a partner can resell, implement or support their enterprise solutions," she said.
Abuissa emphasised that as soon as a channel partner comes on board, Omnix conducts orientation programmes where the entire product range and technologies in the company are showcased by each divisional head and technical team leader.
Abuissa said the company is upbeat about the prospects of its distribution business and growth plan in the GCC region.
