Nokia has new general manager for Levant region
Prem Chand to oversee Nokia’s operations in six countries
Cellphone handset vendor Nokia has appointed Prem Chand as the new general manager for Nokia Levant region, effective immediately.
Up until now, Chand was responsible for Nokia's operations in emerging Asia, a region that he established for the cellular phone company in 2006. During his tenure as head of emerging Asia, Chand helped to develop business in that region, says the vendor.
"Prem brings with him a thriving strategic, business, marketing and sales management experience. His diverse background, having worked in various positions within Nokia in several countries including both developing and developed markets, will contribute immensely to his leadership role throughout the region," said Alessandro Lamanna, vice president, Sales, Nokia Middle East and Africa.
Chand will be based in Beirut leading Nokia's operations in Lebanon, Jordan, Syria, Iraq, the Palestinian territories, North Sudan and South Sudan.
"I am extremely excited to become part of a dynamic team which has successfully strengthened Nokia's position in Levant. The region provides significant challenges and at the same time tremendous opportunities and I am looking forward to being part of it. Improving mobility for consumers in this region has to be a common goal for us all," added Chand.
