Alghanim's appointment will boost I.R.I.S' offerings in Kuwaiti market, says Berrihi.

Kuwaiti distribution powerhouse Alghanim Electronics, has partnered with I.R.I.S, an intelligent document recognition (IDR) solutions vendor to distribute the entire range of products in that country.

Under the accord, Alghanim Electronics is the official authorised distributor and will supply the vendor's products in the Kuwait reseller channel, as well as retail the portfolio through its retail arm X-cite. I.R.I.S says Alghanim Electronics' appointment is in line with the company's broader strategy to fill gaps in the GCC region channel coverage model.

The Belgium headquartered company has up until now been served mostly through power retailers in many parts of the GCC region except the UAE where it has three distribution partners namely Jurassic Technologies, Audiviz Technologies and Arab Canadian Computer Company (ACCC).

Mohamed Berrihi, senior accounts manager, Benelux, Middle East, North Africa, Turkey, I.R.I.S, said Alghanim's appointment as the authorised distributor and retailer in Kuwait will boost I.R.I.S' offerings in that market. Berrihi said the appointment also paves way for the company to conclude a similar distribution agreement with a partner in the KSA. "Our policy in the GCC is to have at least one distributor that will serve both the channel and retail partners in a given country. We have already identified a distributor in the KSA and will be announcing that in due course," he said.

Berrihi said currently, the company is represented in the KSA through eXtra, Jariri Bookstore and Al Obeikan Bookstore. "The addition of a distributor in the Kingdom will ensure that both the retail and traditional dealer channels are further developed and strengthened. Our business has grown in the UAE largely due to the work that our distributors and power retailers have done in this market. We are copying the success here and applying it to other countries in the region," he said.

Berrihi outlined that the next phase will see I.R.I.S jointly with its distribution and retail partners host road shows to raise product awareness  in the Middle East.
