FVC to intensify UC channel training in Lebanon

Regional VAD to extend partner training to North Africa region

FVC to intensify UC channel training in Lebanon
FVC is already upgrading its certifications training to partners, says Hajj.

Regional value-added distributor FVC has revealed that it will step up efforts to strengthen channel training for partners focusing on the unified communications (UC) sector in Lebanon.

FVC's move to strengthen UC training in the Lebanon channel comes as the distributor in partnership with Microsoft, recently hosted a special seminar to introduce and showcase joint UC solutions from Polycom and Microsoft to enterprise organisations in that country.

Ronald Hajj, general manager, FVC Lebanon, said as partners continue to see the promising potential of UC solutions in the Lebanese and Middle East market, many are realising that this segment offers them huge growth prospects as the technology is still in its early stages of adoption in the region. "The response from partners and businesses alike has been encouraging and this can be attributed to the fact that the solutions on offer are from two best-of-breed vendors."

Hajj added that as part of the strategy, the company is already upgrading its certifications training to partners from a purely video conferencing focus to a full-fledged UC training programme that will enable FVC to have certified UC channel partners in the Middle East. He added that Polycom and Microsoft have put in place a joint team of experts to support channel partners selling, implementing and supporting UC solutions in end-user environments in the Middle East.

"As businesses in the Levant region (especially Lebanon) step up the use of real-time collaboration with UC, initiatives like these provide an exclusive opportunity for them to learn more about how Polycom leverages Microsoft Lync to meet their needs. We clearly are seeing a tendency in Lebanon and the region at large where companies are adopting UC technology," Hajj said.

He explained that the seminars are part of a regional Microsoft-Polycom road-show initiative that FVC is driving in the Levant and GCC regions. "We have already started in with this programme in Morocco in 2010 and this year we are targeting Tunisia and Algeria after Lebanon. The ultimate goal is to give our channel partners and their customers the opportunity to experience Microsoft and Polycom UC solutions and how these can meet their needs for real-time collaboration."
