Distributor to offer VMware technical courses via the web

Magirus to offer VMware training online
Online training offers a considerable cost saving for companies says Kocher.

IT solutions provider Magirus is to start offering online training courses in VMware in the EMEA region.

The distributor will deliver VMware Certified Professional (VCP) online in an interactive, web-based format.

The courses will be instructor-led and, will qualify IT professionals in installing, managing, deploying and support of VMware solutions.

Initially the vSphere: Install, Configure and Manage course will be offered, and Magirus intends to add vSphere: Manage for Performance and vSphere: Troubleshooting courses as well.

Courses will include online virtual lab sessions, and will require five eight-hour day long sessions to complete.

"Remote learning tools represent a practical alternative for training people who are in remote locations or for businesses keen to reduce costs by saving on travel, hotel accommodation and subsistence," said Vimal Kocher, managing director for Magirus in the Middle East. "For a 5-day course these costs may amount to another 30-60% on top of the course. We train in excess of 5,000 students a year across Europe in VMware technologies and believe there is pent-up demand for this kind of web-based training."

The decision to roll out courses across Europe follows a successful pilot in Italy.

Magirus is the only VMware European distributor to offer online training. It has more than 30 dedicated VMware trainers across Europe and is the largest VMware trainer in EMEA.
