Canon launches new EOS model
EOS 600D is an 18MP high-end camera with a variety of creative modes
Canon has launched the new EOS 600D DSLR camera in the Middle East. The camera is designed to be a lightweight and compact professional camera and sits above existing EOS 550D and the new EOS 1100D.
The camera features a range of automatic shooting modes, designed for beginners and has a Feature Guide to help users learn about the camera options and develop advanced photography skills.
The camera has 18 MP resolution APS-C CMOS sensor, which combines with 14-bit DIGIC 4 processing designed to enhance colour gradients.
The camera has low light shooting capability to help users capture clear, natural images in darker conditions, with an ISO range of 100-6400 that can be further expanded to 12800.
For shooting fast-moving subjects, the EOS 600D has a high speed shooting capability at 3.7 frames per second, it also features a 9-point Auto Focus system, which can track subjects using the auto focus points across the frame.
The ultra-sensitive AF Sensor is designed to aid focussing, while the iFCL Metering system from the semi-professional EOS 7D features a 63-zone Dual-layer metering sensor, helping users ensure their shot is correctly exposed, even in difficult lighting conditions.
The new fully-automatic Scene Intelligent Auto mode is designed to enable users to focus exclusively on framing a picture by analysing the scene and automatically picking the best settings to capture it, while the new Auto Picture Style, automatically makes fine adjustments to colours.
Creative modes on the camera include the Basic + mode which allow users to pick the mood you want to achieve from one of eight options, including Warm, Cool or Intense.
Other creative effects include the fish-eye-effect, which creates a barrel-shaped distortion similar to a fish-eye lens, and users can shrink objects in the frame with Miniature Effect. Toy Camera Effect, Grainy B/W and Soft Focus offer additional options.
The EOS 600D also is designed to allow users to shoot pictures at any angle on a tripod with the Vari-angle 7.7cm 3:2 ratio ClearView LCD. The LCD has a 1.04 million-dot resolution and a smudge-resistant fluorine coating with three anti-reflection coatings.
The camera features video recording in Full HD (1080p) movie mode and a dedicated movie shooting mode means users can switch between stills and HD video.
The new Movie Digital Zoom function crops the centre of the sensor from 3x to 10x while still maintaining Full HD quality for long distance shooting.
Video Snapshot mode is designed to allow users to shoot video in two, four, or eight second segments, creating clips that are short and of similar lengths to clips used in most TV programmes. As they are recorded, the clips are saved to a Video Snapshot Album and combined into one movie. A soundtrack can be added by choosing from tracks uploaded to the camera and the result viewed on the camera's LCD, or on an HDTV via the built-in mini HDMI connection.
