UAE TRA urges interested companies to register domain names soon

Registration for dotEmarat domains close 31st May
The UAE TRA is urging companies to register their dotEmarat domain names before the registration closing in 31st May.

Registration for the dotEmarat (امارات.), domain name, will close on 31st May, according to the UAE Telecommunications Regulatory Authority.

The dotEmarat domain is designed to open the internet up to Arabic language users and broaden the reach of companies in the region. The initiative has already seen the registry of both regional and international companies under the Arabic domain.

"dotEmarat (امارات.) can be used in commercial campaigns targeting the Arabic user, especially since the new Arabic top-level domain name is currently a broad market incorporating an assortment of unique names that fits the activities offered by every company, unlike the cliché top-level domain names where obtaining a new name has become close to impossible," said Mohamed Nasser Al Ghanim, TRA director general.

Registration of domain names under dotEmarat (امارات.) will secure intellectual property rights related to company Trademarks, according to the TRA and will prevent any legal disputes at a later stage.

The TRA is urging interested companies to register prior to the domain name registration closure on the 31st May, 2011.
