HTC launches HTC Desire S in UAE
HTC has launched its new Desire S smartphone in the UAE.

HTC has launched the aluminium clad HTC Desire S in the UAE. The phone is available for AED 2,199 across all leading electronics retailers.

The HTC Desire S is made from a single block of aluminium and weighs 130 grams and measures 115mm x 59.8mm x 11.63 mm.

As a successor to the popular awarding-winning HTC Desire, the new HTC Desire S blends stunning design with power and speed," said Mohamed Kais Zribi, regional manager, HTC Middle East and North Africa.

The phone features Qualcomm's new 1GHz SnapdragonTM MSM8255 processor, a 5 megapixel colour camera with auto focus and LED flash, front and back cameras, HD video recording and a 3.7-inch WVGA display.

The HTC Desire S is designed to offer 435 minutes talk time for WCDMA and up to 590 minutes for GSM.

The smartphone also offers Desktop Internet Experience, designed to allow users to browse the web in the same way as on a computer desktop, allowing users to enjoy Flash animated websites, and Pinch and Zoom while browsing.

The HTC Desire S has 1.1GB internal memory and RAM of 768 MB, the Desire S also supports a range of audio formats including aac, .amr, .ogg, .m4a, .mid, .mp3, .wav and.wma.

Video supported formats include 3gp, .3g2, .mp4, wmv, .avi and .xvid

The smartphone is designed to work on all networks - HSPA/WCDMA 900/2100 MHz, Quad-band GSM/GPRS/EDGE: 850/900/1800/1900 MHz and with an upload speed of up to 5.76 Mbps and download speed of up to 14.4 Mbps

The phone also has an internal GPS antenna, a G-Sensor Digital compass, proximity sensor and ambient light sensor, as well as an expansion slot for a microSDTM memory card which is SD 2.0 compatible.

The Desire S connectivity specs include Bluetooth 2.1 with FTP/OPP for file transfer, A2DP for wireless stereo headsets, PBAP for phonebook access from the car kit, Wi-Fi: IEEE 802.11b/g/n, 3.5 mm stereo audio jack and standard micro-USB (5-pin micro-USB 2.0).
