Cisco consumer networking division in focus despite closure of Flip
Cisco remains committed to its Linksys home networking solutions range, despite having killed off its other major consumer brand, the Flip video camera.
Amanulla Khan, head of Cisco's consumer product group, said in a Q&A conducted at the DCC MEA event yesterday, that the company continues to have a "long term consumer focus".
Khan said that Cisco would continue to build the Linksys business, as part of its strategy to deliver intelligent networking every where.
"We want partners to know that we are doubling our focus on home networking, to better align with our core networking business," he said. "Cisco intends to extend the network into the home, and Linksys forms the centre piece of this strategy."
Cisco announced the closure of its Flip video division, with the loss of 550 jobs, in April.
