Cisco and Xerox partner on the cloud
Companies form alliance to deliver services over intelligent networks
Cisco and Xerox are to collaborate to deliver cloud-based services and other technology solutions that will combine network intelligence and print.
The two will form an alliance which will provide Xerox’s managed print and cloud IT outsourcing services to customers using Cisco’s intelligent network infrastructure.
The companies say they will look to deliver a range of different services, including Managed Print Services (MPS) over Cisco Borderless Networks, to consolidate IT and print management, monitor print management and improve document security; Xerox Cloud ITO services built on Cisco UCS and Vblock infrastructure, which will include Infrastructure-as-a-Service, cloud consulting services and private cloud deployments, by Xerox’s ACS division; and Xerox Mobile Print Solution on Cisco virtual desktop clients and Cisco Cius, which will allow mobile workers to securely print business documents from any email-enabled device.

This strategic alliance also creates a tremendous opportunity for channel partners to grow revenue by building cloud practices,” said Dan Smith, Head of Integrated Marketing for the Middle East and Africa region of Xerox’s Developing Markets Operations.
“This relationship puts Xerox and Cisco at the centre of a simplified, connected infrastructure – bringing together networking, printing and cloud services, Together we’re helping businesses transition to the cloud in ways that best suit their operations, and add the services needed to enhance security and productivity for employees,” Smith added.
The alliance will promote the new services through both Cisco and Xerox channels, with IaaS, private cloud environments, and MPS, already released for limited availability to Cisco channel partners. The alliance intends to provide Cisco channel partners with new ways to reduce costs and track print usage for customers, while Xerox channel partners can take advantage of Cisco Smart Services (such as Cisco Smart Care) to support customers’ network solutions.
