Al Futtaim partners with Nokia
Nokia products will be supplied to all key retailers through Al Futtaim
Al-Futtaim Computer Software Products Company has entered into a partnership agreement with Nokia to supply mobile phones to key domestic retailers in the UAE.
The agreement came into affect earlier in April and was signed by Vishesh Bhatia, president of the New Strategic Growth Group at Al-Futtaim Group and Chris Braam, vice president at Nokia MEA.
Anil Sharma will head the business unit for Al-Futtaim.
"The Al-Futtaim group, already partner to some of the finest retail and automotive brands in the world, is honoured to partner with the world leader in the mobile phone segment," said Bhatia.
Bhatia said that smartphone penetration in the UAE is expected to grow 11% over the next three years and he expects Nokia's smartphones to dominate this segment.
"As a world leader in mobility, Nokia's latest smartphones offer enormous consumer benefits and localised services for the UAE market which is expected to grow 11% over the next three years. I firmly believe Nokia is driving transformation and growth of the converging Internet and communications industries giving customers especially in the UAE, an opportunity to be part of more than 1.3 billion people who connect to one another with a Nokia device - from mobile phones to advanced smartphones," he said.
According to Al Futtaim, industry estimates put the mobile handset demand in the UAE at five million units annually and sales are expected to grow 5% through to 2015.

Al-Futtaim Computer Software Products will supply the full range of mobiles phones including the Nokia E7, C7 and N8.
