du extends partnership with Ericsson
Companies entered into five year managed services agreement
du has extended its business partnership with Ericsson into the IT sphere, through a new five year managed services agreement for Ericsson to deliver application development and maintenance for du's IT application landscape.
The agreement is part of du's aggressive growth strategy and its focus on improving the company's service delivery capabilities, enhancing customer experiences, offering more value-for-money products and creating more value for shareholders.
"We have grown rapidly as a company ever since we launched operations. To maintain the momentum and build on it we have chosen Ericsson to partner us in the field of IT Application Development. Ericsson's expertise will significantly help enhance our IT applications, which we believe will reflect on our customers' experience in top priority areas such as billing," said Fahad Al Hassawi, chief human resources and shared services officer, du.
Under the terms of the agreement, Ericsson will manage 35 platforms and technologies and will be in charge of developing and maintaining applications. It will also upgrade and consolidate du's software application domains, enterprise support systems and managed services.
"This confirms a growing trend in the market. Operators are looking for ways to simplify the management of their IT landscapes which are growing more complex. By having Ericsson providing both telecom and IT services, operators like du can gain significant business benefits. I would like to thank du on their continuous trust in partnering with Ericsson and for setting a new and unique business model in the region," said Ray Hassan, president and head of Gulf Council Countries (GCC), Ericsson.
The signing ceremony was attended by Al Hassawi, Hassan and Ahmed Hassan, senior vice president - Information Technology at du.
