Du and Ericsson enter into IT applications managed services deal.

The UAE's telecom operator, Du, has signed an agreement with Ericsson to enhance its IT space in areas of application development and maintenance services. The five year managed services deal is part of Du's strategy to improve its service delivery and enhance customer experience.

Fahad Al Hassawi, chief human resources and shared services officer of Du, said that the partnership will enable the telco to enhance its IT applications that will reflect on customers' experience in priority areas such as billing.

Ray Hassan, president and head of GCC, Ericsson, said: "Operators are looking for ways to simplify the management of their IT landscapes which are growing more complex." "The deal is an indication of the growing trend in the market," he added.

Under the terms of the agreement, Ericsson will develop and maintain applications for about 35 platforms and technologies, including upgrading and consolidation of Du's software application domains, transformation of operations and enterprise support systems, and managed services.
