Acer group gets alive
New platform will allow users to access, share digital content on all devices across operating systems
Acer Group has unveiled a brand new platform for users to access digital content, across all devices and across all operating systems.
alive is designed to allow users to browse, search, purchase, stream or download and play any type of digital content.
Acer says alive is not a typical content store because content, both free and paid, is presented to users via real-time feeds managed by content providers. Alive is designed to reflect content updates in a similar manner to Twitter feeds, so users are regularly notified when something new is available.
Content providers can also plug in to alive and publish their content directly to Acer Group users.
alive is customizable and users can add their preferences which will then be saved and used to recommend further applications and content to them.
Acer says that content discovery is enhanced by their Channel concept, where users can browse and subscribe to various theme-related alive Channels.
These channels include music artists, movie genres, top games and book authors.
The platform will feature five key sections; Listen, which will offer music, audiobooks, radios, podcasts and other types of audio entertainment, Watch, which will feature movies, TV series, TV Channels, video podcasts and other types of short videos, Read will deliver e-books, e-magazines and e-newspapers as well as single news, articles and blogs, the Play section will feature games and the Application will feature Business & Finance, Lifestyle & Leisure, Learning, Travel & Navigation and Productivity.
Users will be able to post and share their views and reviews about content that they like with direct link buttons to various social networking sites.
The alive interface will be pre-loaded on all of Acer's new devices, or is downloadable online by existing Acer Group customers.
