Canon opts for multiple distributors in KSA
Restructuring of distribution network means El-Ajou is no longer exclusive partner for office personal products
In a move that provides competition for existing partner El-Ajou, Canon has rounded out its supply chain in Saudi Arabia by signing up two extra office products distributors.
The vendor is hoping to gain greater traction in the dealer, integrator and VAR communities after striking deals with Redington and Al Maujah Trading. Both distributors will focus on Canon's laser, inkjet and consumables range.
The double appointment will mean extra choice for resellers that have previously had to source Canon's ‘Office Personal Products' though El-Ajou Group. According to Canon, the new additions will "further enhance" its channel presence given El-Ajou's strengths in the corporate, direct and retail channels.
"2010 has been a remarkable year for us and we are keen to build on this success by accelerating the momentum moving forward into 2011," said Venkatasubramanian Hariharan, sales manager at Canon Middle East.
"With the expansion of our distribution channel and strengthening of our presence across the Kindgom, we are anticipating reaching new heights in Saudi Arabia," he added.
Although Canon has added two distributors for its OPP range, El-Ajou still remains the exclusive partner for professional print products, LFPs, document imaging management systems (DIMS) and certain office products such as the Image Runner and Image Runner Advance series.
Canon officially confirmed the updates to its distribution model at a channel conference in Riyadh last week.
It also used the event to launch the Fursan Club, an elite reseller programme that will reward members with exclusive benefits based on performance.
