Avaya releases ACE update
Avaya's Agile Communication Environment 2.3 features new voice embedding applications
Avaya has revealed new capabilities for its Avaya Agile Communication Environment (ACE), the company's software which enables the embedding of real-time communications into business applications.
"Unified communications solutions alone provide significant value; however, when they are used to accelerate the business their value is multiplied," said Brent Kelly, senior analyst and partner, Wainhouse Research, LLC. "Companies need tools like Avaya ACE that let software developers easily embed real-time communications and collaboration capabilities in line of business and customer-facing applications. This is where companies can see tremendous ROI on their investment in a UC environment."
Avaya ACE 2.3 is designed to have better integration with Avaya Aura through several new bundled applications. Web services are also now available on the Avaya Aura platform.
The upgraded software also features an add-in for Microsoft Communicator which is designed to allow users to click-to-call from either online or premises-based Microsoft Communicator clients and talk using their Avaya phones.
The ACE upgrade also has a new application designed to work with IBM Lotus Notes and Sametime. The application embeds voice files into Lotus Notes and Sametime documents. Users can click-to-call and see the telephone presence of others within Lotus 8.5.1 while using phones from Avaya.
There is also a new tool-kit that allows IT departments to tailor communications to the company's specific needs. Multiple actions can be triggered by criteria set during the call setup, for example an incoming call can be set up to be automatically recorded and transcribed.
According to Avaya, the new ACE software is easy to use and even programmers with little communications experience can embed real-time communications into business applications using the ACE Web Services and packaged applications.
