Qtel Group CEO appointed to GSMA Board
Marafih will provide the direction to help shape the future of global mobile industry
Dr. Nasser Marafih, CEO of Qtel Group, has been appointed to the GSMA board, the organisation which represents the interests of the worldwide GSM mobile communications industry.
As a GSMA board member, Marafih will work closely with 25 other board members to provide the direction and guidance that will help to shape the future of the global mobile industry.
Marafih said that the GSMA board has made a significant contribution to the growth and development of the mobile communications industry.
The GSMA unites nearly 800 mobile operators as well as more than 200 companies in the broader mobile ecosystem, including handset makers, software companies, equipment providers, internet companies, and media and entertainment organisations.
"A major part of GSMA's vision is to enable people to readily and affordably connect to the communications services they want, when and where they want. In addition, GSMA has supported the evolution and deployment of the GSM family of technologies, such as LTE, and has played a key role in nurturing the discovery and development of tomorrow's mobile innovations," he added.
